The Appalachia Cultural Arts Council, Inc. founded The Appalachia Cultural Arts Center as a vehicle to foster commitment to the future, to economic development, and to the cultural pride of the Town of Appalachia, the surrounding communities, and their residents. The purpose of the center is to revitalize the souls and spirits of a community and her people through the use of the arts and humanities.
The Appalachia Cultural Arts Center is located in the former "M.D. Collier Furniture Store" on Main Street in historic downtown Appalachia, Virginia. Adjacent to the Appalachia Cultural Arts Center is an amphitheater for outdoor performances.
The Center produces a variety of theatrical productions throughout the year, through the community theater group, The A.C.A.C. Players.
The 2010 A.C.A.C. Players Theatrical Season begins October 24th

The ampitheatre is located in the Jerome Street Historic District of Big Stone Gap, Virginia. It seats approximately 350-400 people. The rustic setting is natural with trees, a small waterfall and pond. Home of the Official Outdoor Drama of the Commonwealth of Virginia, The Trail of the Lonesome Pine.

A 241-seat theater featuring musical talent performing live radio broadcasts every Saturday night. The theater has provided continuous stage for hundreds of area performers, featuring a variety of music which includes country, gospel, bluegrass and occasionaly even "big band" sounds. Special shows have included nationally known bluegrass artists such as Ralph Stanley and Larry Sparks and country-rock legends Goose Creek Symphony.

Located on the old route 23 just outside of Norton or Appalachia depending upon which way you travel is a jewel to behold.
Since opening in May 1952 the Central Drive In Theatre has always tried to provide wholesome entertainment for the entire family. The drive in is a place for families to come and be able to watch movies in a relaxed atmosphere without the need to worry about noise and other people around them. The relaxing environment here at the Central allows us to cater to large parties or groups, from coal company employee retreats, to medical and other professionals who would rather use the drive in for their events. Some even rent the location for private large invitations only. The Central Drive In Theatre can accommodate over 400 cars.
