Flower Full Moon Hike - More Info

Visit Lee County and Cumberland Gap National Historical Park on the borders of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky.  Enjoy The Flower Full Moon Hike in the park.  In the merry month of May, flowers spring forth in abundance. Nourishing soils warm, nudging us to begin our planting. This spring, nourish your souls and hearts with a one mile round trip hike into the Gap guided by the light of the Flower Moon, also known as the Corn Planting or Milk Moon. Meet in the national park at Thomas Walker parking area 8:00 p.m. The Cumberland Gap is one of the most significant gaps or passes in the eastern United States. It was in 1769 that Daniel Boone made his first of many passages through the Gap. By 1810, an estimated 300,000 people traveled, many of them on foot, through Cumberland Gap.

Looking for Big Foot - More Info

"Looking for Bigfoot" is a night hike on Stone Mountain Trail in the Jefferson National Forest.  The hike begins at Cave Springs Campground near Olinger.  Individuals can search Stone Mountain for a wild woodbooger beginning at dark.  A photo opportunity will be available at 7PM in the day use parking lot with a local "woodbooger."  Each participant should bring a flashlight.  T-shirts will also be sold.  The guided night hike is a part of Spearhead Rendezvous, a series of outdoor adventure events taking place throughout Southwest Virginia through National Trails Day on June 1. Cave Springs Campground and Recreation Area is situated within the picturesque farming community of Olinger Gap. Highlights of this recreation area include a small spring fed swimming pond, access to Stone Mountain Trail and Wilderness, and a short hike to an overlook of the Olinger Gap Community. Annual Antique Tractor Show - More Info

Come on out to our 10th Annual Antique Tractor Show on the grounds at Lee Bank & Trust in Pennington Gap.  All tractors or equipment are 1959 or older. This event is held with assistance from Southwest Antique Tractor Association and Lee High Band Boosters.  Southwest Antique Tractor Association is located in Pennington Gap and has been hosting antique tractor shows and tractor pulls for over a decade.  Exhibitors will be located at the tractor show.  Hot dogs will be available on the grounds from 11am - 2pm.  FREE drinks will be served all day long.  Welcome to Lee County, Virginia!
