The Scott County Art Bazaar will be held at Grogan Park in Gate City, VA on June 1st from 10am-6pm. Expect to see amazing and unique artistic talent to include handmade jewlery, sculptures, paintings, woodwork, a variety of crafts, and much much more! Several local bands will play live music throughout the day. A variety of food will be available for purchase from local vendors, everything from hot dogs to funnel cakes! This event is family and pet friendly!

Deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, local residents have gathered to offer a very special event celebrating our crafts and music heritage, featuring QUILTS QUILTS QUILTS and Appalachian DULCIMER music!  Lee County Quilters are hosting a free exhibit of quilts in the Lee County Historical and Geneological Society Museum.  The museum is housed in the restored Old Friendship Baptist Church, located approximately 4 miles west of Jonesville at 554 Old Friendship Road (formerly State Route 656) off Wilderness Road (U.S. Highway 58).  The historic building lends itself beautifully for this special event featuring Appalachian quilts and quilters, and Appalachian dulcimers.  Wilderness Road Dulcimer Club will be performing throughout the day.  Complimentary fresh lemonade will be served on the lawn.  Lee County is on the Daniel Boone Wilderness Road Trail and The Crooked Road musical heritage trail.  Lee County is part of 'Round the Mountain's Wilderness Road Artisan Trail, featuring artisan studios, farm tours, and crafts shops. Lee County is also a part of Tennessee's Appalachian Quilt Trail, offering back roads, barn-hopping fun.  Visit stunningly scenic Lee County, Virginia near the borders of Kentucky and Tennessee for an authentic Appalachian adventure.  QUILTS, QUILTS, QUILTS and Appalachian DULCIMERS!!  Welcome to Lee County, Virginia!

Russell County's new festival that was sprung from the Virginia Coal Festival (formed from the Virginia Coal Heritage Trail Festival and the Coalfield Folklife Festival).  The mission of the festival is to educate, entertain and engage community awareness of our heritage and resources - held the second weekend of June at the Old Russell County Courthouse Complex.

Come join us at our 27th Annual Best Friend Festival! Events are held daily some starting as early as 7:00 a.m. -11:00 p.m. Fun for the whole family. Kid's can enjoy painting a trash can, tie-dying a t-shirt, entering a karaoke contest, riding the kiddie train, playing in the large sandbox, and having fun at "A Kid's Place". Senior Citizen's come out and enjoy a free lunch, bingo, a Spring Variety show, cakewalks, face-painting, music, and more. This year's festival also features gospel singing, a picnic in the park, Legends of the Opry, a teen dance, a car show, kid's fishing day, basketball, 5K run, flea market vendors, and much more.

Music festival held the first weekend in August presented in honor of The Original Carter Family, the first family of country music, and commemorating the historic 1927 Bristol Recording Sessions.

Gates open Friday at 3:00 PM and Saturday at Noon.

Visit the Carter Family Museum in the old general store building and the recently restored original cabin that was the birthplace of A.P. Carter.
