A re-enactment of an encounter in the late 18th century when there was a clash of cultures as settlers intruded on Native American hunting grounds on the western frontier. The 2-day event allows visitors to visit the blockhouse, encampments of both Native Americans and settlers and to see demonstrations of various aspects of life on the frontier. On Saturday there is a night battle and campfire storytelling. Sunday activities include a frontier worship service and social.

A Weekend of Fun in the Mountains: Every year the town of St. Paul, Virginia comes alive with the flavors of the region during Clinch River Days.
The first weekend in June is set aside in this southwestern Virginia town to celebrate mountain heritage and a designated Scenic River. Clinch River Days started in 1999 and highlights the area's ties to railroad history, mountain scenery and the fresh water mussels found in the Clinch River.Each year, Clinch River Days offers traditional events, including juried art and photography shows, wine and cheese tasting sponsored by local vineyards, amusements, craft and food vendors, and musical performances ranging from rock, bluegrass and classical to gospel... and much, much more. Festival-goers can look forward to new events, performances and other offerings added each year. There's something for everyone, young and old, at the Clinch River Days Festival. And the best part... all events and performances are FREE.

The Clinch River Days Festival kicks off its 14th year with a reception at the St. Paul Railroad Museum on Russell Street. The magnificent art of Carol Blevins will be featured and the Heart of Appalachia Community Orchestra will perform on the lawn. The gallery show will also be open on Saturday and Sunday. Refreshments and locally produced wines will be served. Everyone is invited.
