The Annual Freedom Festival will be held for the third year and run two days,  Friday and Saturday, June 26th and 27th.   Activities planned include free musical entertainment.  Friday - Marty Raybon & Gal Friday.  Saturday - Christy Lynn, The Horn Family, Jimmy Rose, & Ken Mellons.  There will also be Vendors and Artisans.  Other entertainment includes Loop Rawlins, Wild West Entertainer, History Characters, Motorcycle Show, Cruise-In, Quilt Show, and Photo Contest.  Fireworks will conclude the event at 10pm.

Fiday - July 10th The festivities will begin at 6 pm with youth performances and an outdoor Dance On The Green, followed by a showcase of local talent, hosted by the Tower Street String Band. Cake walks and pie walks, along with a raffle provide a welcoming, hometown flavor!

Saturday - July 11th- Musicians of all ages will compete throughout the day in Youth Competition, individual instrument categories and duets, including dobro, guitar, fiddle, and banjo. Smaller cash categories for duclimer, harmonica, autoharp, and bass will be included, and ribbon categories for folk song and traditional dance. The induction of the 2015 honorees for Lifetime Achievement and a presentation of handmade wooden fiddle plaques is always a highlight of the weekend. A group jam of current and past honorees to “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” will follow the presentation. Band competition will begin and conclude on Saturday night and cash awards and ribbons will be presented to the competitors in all categories at the end of the evening.

Sunday - July 12th - A Gospel Sing and interdenominational church service will be led by Dale Elswick and Randy Fielder. Attendees will gather in the Red Barn closing the weekend with bluegrass and old time gospel music.

The annual Virginia Mountain Music Festival is hosted by Southwest Virginia Community College every summer.

Performers include nationally recognized talent as well as regional and local favorites. There is always a musical cornucopia of talent performing during the Festival and it is a favorite for family fun.

Enjoy a summer's eve listening to traditional bluegrass music at the amphitheater. Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to cut a rug. The opening group will be selected from the Pickin' in the Park series. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are free.
