The Russell County Fair and Horse Show is held annually the first week in September at the Russell County Fairgrounds in Castlewood, Virginia. The Russell County Fair and Horse Show features an array of events, something for everyone of any age to enjoy. Events include a carnival, scholarship pageant, horse shows, bull riding, livestock events, horseless cowboy contest, car show, ranch rodeo/team penning, demolition derby, antique tractor pull, truck pull, Tough Truck tug of war, pet show, and entertainment showcasing local and nationally known entertainers including country, bluegrass and gospel music performances.
The Russell County Fair and Horse Show is THE event to attend. The fair showcases Russell County with its scenic rolling mountains as a backdrop, our mountain heritage, commercial exhibits and arts and crafts. Enjoy a summer's eve listening to traditional bluegrass music at the amphitheater. Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to cut a rug. The annual Cedar Bluff Heritage Festival has an exciting line-up of musical performances that will entertain festival goers from three stages, and many artists, craftsmen, antique dealers and food vendors will fill the historic downtown area. Cedar Bluff will begin the celebration on Friday evening before the festival with music, food, and more, all located at the Cedar Bluff Fire Station on Cedar Valley Drive.
The 2015 festival will again highlight the rich heritage of Cedar Bluff. Always the third Saturday in September, the Cedar Bluff Heritage Festival attracts thousands of visitors and 200 vendors each year. Vendors are encouraged to pre-register to obtain exhibit space.
