Now whether this getaway is something romantic and shared with a loved one or simply a perfectly timed hide out from all the romance and chocolate is up to you. Regardless, we’re going to give you five amazing cabins that’ll make your weekend full of fun and great memories.

We’re starting off in Tazewell at the Cottage at Crab Orchard. You can spend one night, a weekend, or even an entire week. It accommodates up to four people, perfect for a double-date weekend or don’t invite anyone else and just enjoy the extra space. Renting at least one night gets you a free self-guided tour of the Crab Orchard museum and Pioneer Park. To top it all off, there’s free Wi-Fi and a continental breakfast included so you can post about your time in Tazewell while eating something absolutely delicious!

If your definition of romance and relaxation involves lots of adventure then Real McCoy Cabins out in Pocahontas. Each cabin sleeps at least four people comfortably and is completely decked out with a kitchenette, cable TV, and an outdoor charcoal grill and fire pit. While staying in one of their six cabins, get your thrills at Spearhead Trails Original Pocahontas ATV trail system that’s literally right in the backyard of this fine establishment! Don’t worry, if ATVs aren’t your thing, there are plenty of opportunities to hike, mountain bike, or venture into the Pocahontas Exhibition Mine for a little educational learning.

Poplar Hill Cottage might be the optimal choice in a getaway weekend if you adore the quaint town of Big Stone Gap. The cottage has three bedrooms and is fully furnished with reproduction furniture. You’ll have a great sense of privacy to enjoy your weekend while sitting in the heart of Big Stone Gap. Your weekend will easily be filled by taking a leisure walk around town to experience the very place they filmed the movie named after the town, local shops with Appalachian crafts, see where The Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama is performed, or walk right across the street from the cottage to the Southwest Virginia Museum State Park and learn about the history that made this town so amazing.

Natural Tunnel, the focal point of Natural Tunnel State Park, is an 850 foot long and 10-story tall naturally carved limestone tunnel formed over thousands of years. The park’s Cover Ridge Center offers multi-use meeting facilities for groups, reunions and weddings, dormitory lodging and cabins. The park has 10 cabins and one six-bedroom lodge that offer mountain views and access to park trails.

Natural Tunnel State Park has some astounding hideaways. Their cabins come with a full kitchen, Tempur-Pedic mattresses for their queen and twin beds, wrap around decks with rocking chairs, and gas log fireplaces that’ll keep you and your significant other comfortable and cozy. If the breathtaking forest doesn’t draw you in, then maybe the natural tunnel, how the park got its namesake, that was naturally carved through a limestone ridge over thousands of years will make the trip extra special! You can spend the weekend hiking or attend their educational programs to learn more about the environment.

Also in Scott County, there’s the Estillville Bed and Breakfast. Enjoy one of their four unique rooms and wake up to an astounding country-styled breakfast each morning! The owners really make you feel at home, getting to know their guests so it feels like you never left home. You’ll be within walking distance of plenty of restaurants and shops or take the nearby hiking trail just to enjoy the outdoors.
