The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park will host its 31st Annual Festival of Trees from November 14 to December 31. This holiday tradition fills all four floors of the Victorian-era museum with more than 80 decorated trees and displays created by volunteers from across the region.
The festival opens during “Christmas on Poplar Hill” on November 14 from 6 to 9 p.m., with free admission in exchange for dog or cat food donations for PAWS of SWVA. Regular viewing begins November 15 during normal museum hours, with several special night viewings from 6 to 9 p.m. on November 27; December 4–5; December 11–12; and December 18. “An Evening Aglow,” held November 28 and December 19, offers a low-light experience illuminated mainly by Christmas lights.
The museum is closed December 25, and there will be no night viewing on December 26. After opening night, admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 6–12, and free for children under 6. Group rates apply for parties of 10 or more.
