On Saturday, November 18th, at 5:00p.m., come on out for a Cowgirl and Buckaroo Ball at Appalachian Arts Center! Put on your western wear and enjoy our current exhibit of oil paintings by the late A. Kelly Pruitt, with a reception that will include tasty homemade food and cowboy music strummed on guitar by Jaydee Hale, while you mingle, chat, and maybe even kick up your heels in a two- step ~
A self taught painter, poet, writer, and cowboy sage, A. Kelly Pruitt was a true American original who lived most of his life in homemade gyspy wagons, tipis and under the open sky. Local artisan Pawnee Jewell, who lived and studied with Kelly in Taos, New Mexico, and along the Rio Grande in Texas, will be available to tell tales about his unusual life, the collection of paintings on display, and to share personal photos of their life together.
Books and paintings will be for sale.
We hope to see you for a festive time!
