Small-Town Holiday Getaway
The Christmas season is one of the busiest times of the year, that is why a small-town holiday getaway is perfect for stepping back and embracing the magic of the season! If you’re looking for a cozy, Christmas getaway our region has so much to offer! We have something for everyone to do and the only thing warmer than our hot cocoa are the smiles of the people from these small towns.
Begin your trip on Friday by checking into your ideal lodging whether it be a cottage, campground, or hotel in Big Stone Gap. You can find the various lodging locations at www.bigstonegap.com . Once you get settled in head over to the Greenbelt in lights to start your Christmas festivities! The next morning stop by the festival of trees located in the Southwest Virginia Museum! Eighty-one trees will all be decorated differently by businesses, schools, churches, civic groups, and individuals! Enjoy a homecooked lunch at the Four Seasons before taking the next step in your small-town holiday getaway!
Once you complete your day in historic Big Stone Gap, enjoy your drive past the snow-capped mountains just down the road to Wise. You can book a warm and cozy room at the Inn at Wise. Cuddle up by the tree or explore the historical inn to see all the other beautiful decorations throughout.
Enjoy dinner at the inn or drive a few minutes down the road to the Woodbooger Grill! After you enjoy dinner with our local legend, hop across the road to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or a freshy baked cupcake from the bake-a-deli! Once you are finished with dinner and dessert what better way to end your cozy Christmas getaway than driving through some Christmas lights! Camp Bethel Ministries, located not far from the Inn at Wise, has a gorgeous display of Christmas lights for you to end your night with.
