Northwestern Wise County includes some of the most scenic beauty to be found. Big Stone Gap is situated in the valley (the gap) created on the Appalachia Straight, tucked in between Powell Mountain and Little Stone Mountain. The town of Appalachia, just north of Big Stone Gap, was aptly named for the surrounding Appalachian Mountains as well. Keokee sits upon Little Black Mountain at the northeast corner of Lee County and bordered by Kentucky. These three locations, close in proximity, are full of outdoor adventure from hiking/biking to fishing and birdwatching. In town, these communities will show you what a good time really is!
