The 20th Annual Tazewell County Fiddlers’ Convention  

July 14-15, 2023

Full weekend event to be held on the grounds of
Historic Crab Orchard Museum’s Pioneer Park

Bring the family to Tazewell for a weekend of traditional Mountain Music, Flat Foot Dancing, Parking Lot Jamming, Talented Instrument and Band Competitions, Cash Prizes, Camping, and Fellowship in the cool mountain air.

Friday, July 8

3:00 pm – Gates Open

5:00 pm – Richard Cole Tribute Band

6:00 pm – Back Porch Pickers

7:00 – 9:00 pm – The Bluegrass Kinsmen

Saturday, July 9

10:00 am – Youth Competition

10:30 am – Folk Song Competition (First 20 registered)

11:00 am – Individual Instrument Competitions: Guitar, Mandolin, Dobro, Harmonica, Duclimer, Bass, and Autoharp

2:00 pm – Fiddle & Banjo Duet Competition

3:00 pm – Banjo Competition (Old Time & Bluegrass)

4:00 pm – Fiddle Competition (Old Time & Bluegrass)

6:30 pm – Induction of the 2022 honorees for Lifetime Achievement, followed by a group jam of new and past honorees to
“Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”

7:00 pm – Old Time and Bluegrass Band Competition begins

Dance Competition (After band competitions)

11:00 pm – Presentation of cash awards and ribbons to competitors in all categories.

**All competitions and performances will be conducted outside on the front porch of the Daniel-Murray Homestead Cabin**

Camping
Camping is first-come, first served on the property across from the museum entrance (behind Frog Level Service Station), with no hookups or dumping stations.  Water outlets available. Primitive camping spaces, free.  $20/night/RV camping.

Parking
Ample parking is available in the park & ride lot next to
Fort Witten and across Crab Orchard Road by Frog Level Service Station.  The museum parking lot is reserved for handicapped parking ONLY.  Event attendees are not permitted to park within the grounds of the Pioneer Park.

Helpful Hint
If you are bringing instruments, tents, chairs, etc., please drop them at the entrance gate (tables provided), park across the road, and pick them up as you check-in at the f
