Live Music in Southwest Virginia
The Heart of Appalachia region – Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Tazewell, and Wise Counties, plus the City of Norton – sits at the center of Virginia’s musical heritage. This is bluegrass and old-time country’s home ground, anchored by signature stops on The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, the Ralph Stanley Museum, and a cluster of restored historic theaters still hosting live shows today. Whether you’re chasing Saturday night fiddle tunes or planning around a festival, here’s where to find the music.
The Crooked Road

- Carter Family Fold (Hiltons, Scott County) – legendary venue honoring the Carter Family legacy, with live music most Saturday nights
- Country Cabin II (City of Norton) – a long-standing venue keeping classic country and bluegrass alive on stage
