Allen Hicks’ Jam

One of the region’s most well-known bluegrass jams began at Allen Hicks’ woodshop in Nickelsville. Waiting around to be the first to strum a new, handmade mandolin, the gathering of musicians grew into the old-fashion jam we know today. Each week, pickers come together to collaborate and share their talent, playing traditional bluegrass instruments and having fun. These days, the woodshop has been transformed – now featuring a professional sound system and permanent seating. Whether you come to perform or simply to listen, everyone is welcome at the Allen Hicks Jam – an affiliated venue along The Crooked Road: Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail.
